4:00am and I’m scrolling through Facebook like I sometimes do when I wake up too early. Occasionally I will stop to read people’s comments to various posts and I’m reminded how hateful many people are with each other.
It’s not good enough to just disagree anymore. Now it’s all about who can comeback with the most vile retort. Even when one truly feels that they are correct and have this conviction deep within, a simple “I disagree” is not good enough and they proceed to belittle the other individual because of their view on a topic.
All hope is not lost however. If you are that type of individual in the aforementioned paragraph, you too can change, but only if you realize and accept the fact that you want to change. I was that type of person for quite some time. Oh how I lived for the argument and an opportunity to put someone down for their thoughts, and for what? I didn’t like the person I was and realized that I needed change.
You’ve heard the cliche “a tiger can’t change its stripes”, but you are not a tiger, you are a human being with the capabilities of changing yourself. Sometimes change is hard but anything worth having comes with a little hardship.
How do you change? There are many ways but here are a few suggestions.
1. Steer away from posts or stories on social media that bring out anger.
2. Willpower is not your friend. Habit is the key. Do or say something kind for someone each day, everyday until it becomes a habit.
3. Remind yourself daily that you want to change and become a better, more positive person.
In a world that seems to be full of lies, deceit, and negativity, you can make that change and make a difference. Be a part of the solution, not the problem.
We are now weeks into this epidemic and what have we learned from all of what’s going on with the coronavirus in the United States?
We’ve learned that when push comes to shove, Americans are still strong. Our hospitals, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, and rescue personnel are placing themselves in harms way for the health and safety of their communities first. They deserve our thanks and prayers for their health, safety, and for them to continue their work.
We should also thank and pray for our truckers who are working to bring supplies to those in need. Thank and pray for the American worker, who’s job has been deemed “essential” and are still doing their part to keep the country going.
Pray for and look after those who’ve lost their jobs and businesses. During times like these, stress, anxiety, and depression can hit home hard leading to drinking, drug use, and sometimes suicide. Be kind to and look out for each other. Help your fellow man.
The biggest thing that I’ve noticed throughout this whole ordeal, in my opinion, is the fact that we to place God back in the center of our lives. I honestly feel that he’s been warning us over these past few decades and instead of getting better, as a whole, we are getting worse. Disobeying his laws, making a mockery out of the sacrament of marriage, the continued murdering of the unborn, and countless other acts that snub our noses at God. God is a loving God, but he is also a just God.
What have I learned about myself during this time? A lot! I’ve noticed where the lack of God is in my life. I’ve learned that although I’ve come to grips with certain areas in my life, more work is needed to attain the peace that I’ve desperately searched for. Day by day and with the grace of God, I will achieve my goals too.
Some people have a problem with Disney and anything associated with them. To each their own. I’m not a huge fan but my family is and I enjoy seeing them happy considering how I failed to do so in the early years of being a husband and father and I didn’t make them happy then but that’s another story for another time.
People have their reasons for their dislike of Disney and some use their religion to push their agenda on others; “They support same sex marriage,” or “They support Planned Parenthood.” If those are your main reasons for not supporting a company, better do your homework Jack! There are many companies who do the same thing and unless you are living off the grid, you should re-evaluate your argument or learn what it means to be a Christian.
Christians should be able to evangelize from anywhere under any circumstances. What you do says more than what you say, you know the old cliché; “actions speak louder than words.”
While on our family break here at Disneyland, every time I saw a young couple (male & female) attempting to take a selfie while trying to capture the background, I stepped up and offered to take the picture. Each time the couples were ecstatic that I offered and were pleased with the photo(s). When I handed the phone back back I said the same thing, “have an awesome day and God bless you.” Simple right?
My bride and I walked around holding hands and by our actions, we showed our love for each other and what true Christian matrimony is all about. Simple, easy and fun to do.
So, whether you’re at Disneyland or out on the streets, profess your love of God. Bless others, express generosity, and be the person God made you to be.
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed how much we have been trained to hate and despise each other? Some might say that I am crazy and that it is only a select few who hate each other but I beg to differ. Can you honestly say that there is nobody, no group of individuals, no organization, no politician, etc… that you hate or despise? If you are honest with yourself, I’m sure your answer will be no, there is somebody or something that you hate or despise.
Hate is nothing new, it has been there from the beginning. Satan hated God so much that he would do anything do destroy what God created as he did with Adam and Eve (Genesis 3). When hate goes unchecked it can turn into envy which can lead to death as in the story of Cain and Able (Genesis 4). Was this the case with the young man who plowed into a group of protesters in Charlottesville Virginia killing a young lady in the process? We knew he hated or despised the protesters that he plowed into or he wouldn’t have done so. Did he have some sort of distorted view of these individuals? Maybe he thought that they had more than him due to their ethnicity? Maybe he thought they were just a bunch of liberals who needed to be taught a lesson? I’m sure in the days to come there may be some answers but in the meantime, there is the life of a young lady that has been lost and the countless lives of family members, friends and a nation who mourn for her.
Are we that far gone as a nation now that all we see is color, political parties and ethnicity that we can’t move forward? No! There is hope and that hope is found in Jesus Christ. Is it really that hard for you to put aside your differences of opinion and say “I love you?” Jesus Christ didn’t ask us to love each other, he commanded that we love each other. John 13:34 – I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. Love! There are so many instances of it in the bible yet so few Christians show it. How can you consider yourself to be Christian if you do not love? Matthew 5:43-48 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectorsdo the same? And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same?So be perfect,* just as your heavenly Father is perfect. Pray for your enemies!
If we want change, true change in this sinful world, then we must be that change. Nobody is born with prejudices, it is something we learn. We must come together not only as Americans but as children of God for that is who we are.
So today, go out and find someone who you’ve had a disagreement with, politically, personally or whatever the reason and tell them that you love them. Ignore the main stream media who in my opinion, feeds the masses the food of hate and lies and biases as they continue to pit us against each other. Love overcomes hate. We’ve seen it on the cross when Jesus Christ died for us…Love overcame hate. Will you do your part to overcome hate?
May God continue to bless you and all that you do for His Kingdom. Take Care.
As I sit in my office this morning listening to the TV in the waiting room, I can honestly say that I am happy and I am at peace. I am happy because my voice was heard along with many others and we are about to see Mr. Donald Trump take the oath of office and become President Donald John Trump.
For those of you who didn’t vote for Donald Trump, I get it. You are not happy. As a matter of fact, I’m willing to bet that the majority of you are pissed off! I really do get it because I, along with the many others who voted for Donald Trump, felt the same way four years ago and eight years ago when President Obama was voted into office. But I ask you to do me this one favor and take a step back from those emotions and look at some of the issues that came out of the Obama administration listed below.
Eight years ago, the images above were not of issue. They had not come into play in our country or at least, not to the extreme that they have in the past eight years. These are just a few of the issues that came to light during the Obama administration. As a Christian, these are some of the issues that I feel have harmed, not helped our country and they are not small things, they are issues that have caused an abundance of pain, grief, fear and hopelessness in our country.
There were some things that President Obama did do that helped our country and I am grateful for those things but we can’t ignore the issues mentioned above and act as if they didn’t happen. Quite a few people who voted for Donald Trump did not want to vote for him, however, they too were tired of what has happened to this once great nation of ours and decided the time for typical politics was over and they were willing to vote in a man with no prior political experience, a man who didn’t serve in the military and a man who was a brand name and an established and experienced business man instead of voting in another typical politician. If that doesn’t speak volumes, I don’t know what does. Donald Trump ran his campaign on wanting to do what was right for every American regardless of whether they liked him or not. He wanted and wants to Make America Great Again. Now I’m not saying that President Trump will not make mistakes. It’s not a matter of if he will or not, it’s a matter of when and how bad the mistakes will be. Every President has made mistakes. They are human, and as we know, we can’t place our trust in humans for our salvation. Salvation comes from Our Lord and Savior.
So, whether you like President Trump or not, it is time for us to come together as a nation under God and to place God at the center of our nation. We must come together and unite under the Cross of Christ and set our differences aside if we are going to improve the problems that we have in our country. If we are true Christians, we must forgive and love our neighbor. John 13:35 – By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
Today is the beginning of a new day in America. A day where President Donald Trump has vowed to start Making America Great Again! Will he be able to do it? Doubtful but, through God, all things are possible. May he look to Our Lord and ask Him for the guidance, courage and wisdom to run our country and may God bless he and his administration. Welcome Mr. President.
